There's a town just "up the road a piece" here in New Hampshire called New Castle.
In pre-Revolutionary times, New Hampshire folks in Portsmouth raised a Liberty Pole, then stole the British stores of ordnance and rowed across it all to the (then) island of New Castle and hid part of the ammunition and rifles in New Castle church basement. Some ordnance was taken overland and hidden in Exeter church basements. Brits didn't see them again until they faced them in battle in the hands of the Colonials!
