The condition, which I learned as "phlebothrombosis" fifty ;years ago is far from new. My mother's mother died of it from being kept in bed a month after delivery. I think it was first recognized by Dr. Michael DeBakey in early l940s. The airline passengers are immobilized far worse than anybody with a sensible chair at computer can get up and stretch far more easily and effective than the human sardines on some airline flights. I walk three miles a day, and sit in front of my computer all the rest of the day.No clots in my legs. And on googling for it, I found basically the same article reproduced in several other journals.
