Late Congenital Syphilis

Patients may have any one of the following findings: Hutchinson's teeth
(only permanent teeth are affected)--notching of teeth, with widely
spaced, peg-shaped teeth. The two front teeth can be shaped like
screwdrivers. Interstitial Keratitis--inflammation of the cornea; may lead
to scarring. Clutton's joints--hydrarthrosis of the knee, causing bilateral
degeneration. Mulberry Molar--abnormality in cusp and enamel
formation. Rhagades--abnormal fine pattern of scarring in the lower part
of the face in people who had snuffles and were not treated. The
invasion of Treponema undermines the development of soft tissue. Sabre
shin (convex bowing of the tibia) and saddle nose from osteochondritis
and perichondritis.
