Well it isn't a very long trip if you can't measure it in 12-packs.

Another interesting Kentucky-ism that seems to perplex outsiders and transplants is the frequent description of one's home as such-and-such county, rather than a town. It had never occurred to me that it was anything out of the ordinary, but I have had several non-natives mention it to me.

I think it comes from, among other things, the small size and relative obscurity of most towns in the state. Furthermore, many of these towns are served by a single high school, which is named after the county. The high schools participate in athletics, of course, and so one encounters people from other towns in that context. e.g. You might not know where the heck Midway, Kentucky is, but you recognize Woodford County as a place with an identity.
