 heldentenor
n.
5Ger, lit., heroic tenor6 a robust tenor voice suited to heroic roles, as in Wagnerian opera
Who in Hell is currently so called?
Oh, you know, don't you, wwh? That famous holdentenor who was born in a field covered with a tent-sized caul? Holdentenor Caulfield? Remember him?
Heldentenor? Oh, so sorry. Wrong vowel. Wrong tenor.
[Sorry, wwh. The devil made me do it.]
Ben Heppner. Canadian dude, very cool. I dressed him at the Santa Fe Opera in 1989 - his career has been quite a whirlwind since then! LOTS of Wagner, he's built a reputation on his ability to pull it off.
As a sideline, could this qualify as the first posting that's had only one response per year?
