Nope. It's that too many peoples' tills have not balanced at the end of the day. My manager wrote a notice to all employees and began it with the phrase "Cash handling of late has been very poor." A cashier looked at it and asked what the hell that meant, so he changed the wording to read "Cash handling lately has been very poor." I just wondered how the lot of you might have phrased it. The registers are all computerized so cash handling refers soley to the counting, care and shepherding of all bills, coins, coupons, atm receipts, charge receipts, etc. A cashier that frequently comes up short more than a dollar or so most often is "caught with his/her hand in the till", or terminated for carelessness. Being written up for this offence is often used to legally terminate an unsatisfactory employee whereas a satisfactory employee may only receive verbal warnings.
