"horseshoe-shaped" = (not) hippocrepiform
Hippocrepiform has one few letters, not counting the hyphen. Hippocrepiform, therefore, is a more economical adjective. However, 'horseshoe-shaped' has two fewer syllables, so it depends upon what you're counting and how you define your economic needs.
