on a far less serial note, several (well, three(3) so far) Ozzies wrote to inform me that "to gazunder" is to return the chamber pot (a gazunder) underneath the bed, where it belongs. it seems that this handy artifact was used in 'loo' of the outback outhouse. cursory research shows that this was also variously spelled gozunder and guzunder. in any event, I certainly missed the opportunity to use one of my patented <ahem> catchphrases, "not to be confused with".

I knew a guy who claimed he had a patent for a gazonta, a device to attach to top of a ladder to keep it from damaging roof gutter. And the gazinta is math term, the quotient produced by a divisor - two gazinta four twice. Of course in Oz what gaxinta a gazunder is ......
