Spelling bee word.
abranchiate
SYLLABICATION:
a·bran·chi·ate
PRONUNCIATION:
-brngk-t, -t
NOUN:
An animal that has no gills.
ADJECTIVE:
also a·bran·chi·al (-k-l) Having no gill
An animal that has no gills. OK. We're animals. We have no gills. So, would it be correct to say Homo sapiens sapiens is an abranchiate species? I know I'm obviousizing again, but I want to be sure I've got the definition clear in my sapiens sapiens head before using the word.
Dear WW: when we were very tiny, only a few weeks old, we had some things reminiscent of gills.
I forget what became of them Maybe Alex, doc_comfort, or wofahulicodoc remember.
Yeah, I thought of that when writing what I wrote above. But could I say that Homo sapiens sapiens lives most of his life as an abranchiate species?
