For some reason this reminds me of a professor of mine who, rather than hurt a student's feelings by telling him his answer was flat wrong, would say, "You would have been more nearly correct if you had said," followed by the right answer.

So, you would have been more nearly correct if you had said LIQUEFIABLE.
