Actually, no I hadn't read any of the posts before embarking on my first one. My eyes espied "favorite words" in the MISCELLANY forum and I bolted straight over just like a good little vocabulary junkie should.

I DO however, look very much forward and sideways to reading more of the posts on this site and also posting more myself, post-haste.
