Translation, please?

trans. To keep secret, conceal, hide.
ergo, 'once they hid inside Iraq.'
If the article had said "once they were secreted inside Iraq", it would have made sense. It would mean that they had been dripped from a pipette rather than dropped from an aircraft ...
