The attached cards are bind-in cards. Bind-in/Blow-in cards/envelopes Subscription devices, usually standard size postcards, which are either inserted or bound into a magazine. The card/envelope should have a business reply mechanism and should allow individuals to charge-or be billed for-the subscription. Magazines that do not have the capacity to invoice should select envelopes which allow for the easy return of personal checks. Bind-ins/blow-ins are used predominantly to convert single-copy buyers into subscribers. To be nice (blech) let's just call them "waste material". The ones that fall out when you read through the magazine are called "fall outs" (I believe). That would significantly increase production costs. I find the blow-ins easier to handle since there isn't the trouble in removing the little bound in ends that make riffling through the magazine so difficult. Now, of course, it's all mechanised and they are called blow-ins. Guess what the task of managing the machine was called? There's a really fancy machine that does the bind-ins for magazines.
