DXB, Shady Grove and Gaithersburg are in the DC suburbs of Maryland. The latest outrage was in Virginia, a fair piece south of DC.

There doesn't seem any reason so far to be concerned where I am, since we are plenty far to the north of the sniper's operating area (so far), but one of my sons lives in Silver Spring (about a half mile from one of the first shootings) and he and his wife work in Rockville; another son lives in Leesburg, VA, across the river from Rockville. So they, and my 9 month old grandson, are right in the sniper's original territory.
