In reply to:

And let's tip our collective hat to
the
astonishingly long yet coherent DOC, NOTE, I DISSENT. A FAST NEVER PREVENTS A FATNESS. I DIET ON COD.

IMHO the all time best palindrome is "A man, a plan, a canal: Panama."

The Panama Canal one is my favorite, too.

Wish somebody would beat that one!

What are you replying to, Alex? And why the new thread? Is the AWAD gremlin acting up again?

Alex posted at 6:00 or so this morning by AWAD clocks...so his thread started earlier than the other palindrome thread by a couple of hours, didn't it?

Actively, he was responding to the AWAD email for today.

The Panama one is good, certainly, for coherency and colloquial flow (if somewhat ad-speakish or headliney) where most, like the Diet of Cod, are rather awkward. The Potato Pan one has a certain ludicrous panache that I find especially attractive.

Here's one that should go down well hereabouts:

I roamed under it as a tired, nude Maori

Yeah, WW, it looks like Alex posted first. Wonder why I didn't see it the first time around?

Oh, and thanks, Faldage, for the clarification. I hadn't even read my WAD yet.

Now I think I'll go off and do something useful (sorry for the confusion!)

But what goes down must come up, ma tante de la plume.

Sorry for the bump, but I just had to share. Did you know that if you use palindromes frequently, you could be referred to as a "ciloholic"? (a person who is addicted to palindromes)

I topi non avevano nipoti
Mice had no grand-sons ( and grand-daughters).

Nipote is no sexist word.
