I don't know about Gargon, but it reminds me of Gorgon, and that would be the sisters, of which Medussa was one.

I don't know about Gargon, but it reminds me of Gargan, and that would be the an old time radio actor, William Gargan, who lost his voice to laryngeal cancer and learned the art of, umm, I forget what it's called but you produce a sort of continuous belch to replace the buzzing of the vocal chords.

It's called esophageal speech - much less "buzzy" than an artificial larynx but far from perfect.
