tight jeans

Yeahbut®, we were into tight jeans, too, Cap. Even the bell- bottoms had to be tight till they flared out at the bottom. Just never wore 'em in a tub to shrink 'em (but mebbe some the of ladies did and just didn't tell anybody...knew a few gals who whose jeans were so tight we used to say that if they got any tighter they'd suffocate...'course, we didn't mind! )

into; get into; I can't get into that There's another Sixties' lingual gem that's come to stay!

In reply to:

(why do we always spell hippie with a small "h" and Beatnik with a capital "B"?)

Maybe so the latter isn't taken as a command.

spellings?

Another spelling question: hippie or hippy? I see it both ways...but I think the "-ie" is the original spelling. Yippie and yuppie is always the "ie" suffix.

But, then, George Carlin was "The Hippy Dippy Weatherman", so I dunno...

I searched for the thread that was here a while back and found it. Let's see whether this works:

Edit WARNING: Don't click on that link if you didn't like all the hippopotamus mess that went on.

Best regards,

You "were told"? So does that mean you WERE part of them? <grin> (Mercy, I'm so glad you're here!)

I can't remember if I remember the 60's.

I can remember not remembering the 60's.

I remembered not to rememeber the 60'...or the early 70's either!

I remembered the 60's for awhile...but then I forgot I remembered it.

I remember all of the 60's!...but I forgot where I put it.

Man, all this remembering is a real drag!

...what a drag, kind of a drag.

(my memory of the 60's is actually very vivid...my 60's didn't start happening until about '69-'70 or so...)
