Hey, I just tried what you suggested, of troy--but it was a weird experience. The computer really only gave me two choices--the regular setting, numbered pretty much just as you describe above and the legally blind setting, which looked really strange--huge and kind of smeary, to tell you the truth. But thanks for the lesson. At least I didn't white out my computer.

That's the brute force method. Kinda like using a stick and a half of dynamite. What I did is browser dependent. In Opera there is a little thang in the upper right hand corner that presently says 100% and has a little up/down arrow thingie next to it. I click on the arrow and I get a pull down menu that gives me a choice of 20% to 1000%. 1000% gives me about two words across the screen in big huge letters. 50% and I can barely make out that there are words. In IE you can go to View in the toolbar(?) at the top of your screen and choose Text Zoom or, in Netscape View gives you Increase or Decrease Font Size. At least on the Mac it's like that. I know the Opera is the same on my PC at work. The ASp says that it is the same on IE and Netscape on a PC. Besides being easier than helen's method all it affects is the browser look and doesn't mess everthang up.

And you're going to leave us hanging like that? well, i figured out what they did (highlighting was of no because the menu heading didn't highligh, and i just worked blind.. since i had an other computer nearby -- I looked to see which key stroke would open the right menu, and then used tab to move with in the menu, and finally got to the color codes.. and was able to reset the colors.
I am very surprized that you don't have 3 or 4 setting for resolution. that is normal for W2K.
(it's good to know this info, if you ever want to use an image projector to project on a movie type screen what is on you screen, you need to use a smaller resolution (i have icons on my machine to make the changes easy.. since i do it on a regular basis.)

Helen:
I have XP. Only two settings, although there is a bar that looks as though you could slide the numerical settingsl. Problem is: The bar doesn't let the cursor slide up it. You're either east or west and nowhere in between.
Faldage:
How do we computer illiterates find out which browser we have? I sign in with msn, but, other than that, I have no idea how to determine any browser I use. Sorry to be so thick about this, but.

You could see which of my set of instructions seems best to fit your browser. There should also be a Help pull down menu up at the top of your screen. If nothing else, it should have the name of the browser in there somewhere. Doesn't show on this here Mac, but PCs normally have an About Browsername item in the pull down menu. If you're just using what came with the computer it'll be probably IE.
