Looking at the etymology Wordsmith gives for "valorize", the old quibbler questions
its qualification for designation as a red-herring word.

I dunno, oq. Valorize sounds to me like it means to make brave.

although today's word does stem from the same root as valor, it also meets Anu's only criterium for red-herring words: words which lead us into pitfalls if we try to deduce their meaning by guessing.
