OP what's your reasoning behind your choice of wording here
*shrug* Just an avoidance of the cliche, I think.
(for extra credit), where did the phrase 'coined a phrase/word/etc.' come from??

The verb to coin originally meant to literally mint a coin. It dates to the 14th century. In the late-16th century, the sense generalized to become to create or invent something. In 1940 the specific usage of coin a phrase came into use.
Oh goody! I hope that extra credit will get me out of homeroom this week; I have to decorate the gym for the prom.
