In looking for material to post about SilkMuse's query about 'halitosis' I found a site with a very large number of posts about words and linguistics. Takes a good bit of browing to find them though. Most of it won't interest us. We have to dig:
http://www.emich.edu/~linguist/issues/5/5-67.html#3
To get to home of above URL:http://www.emich.edu/~linguist/issues/
I warned you that you had to do a lot of browsing. To make it easier, go to bottom of page, and find "sitemap". Or you can edit URL to read.........linguist/sitemap.html
In sitemap, click on "Linguist Services", then on "Ask a Linguist. Here is a so-so sample "Carny Lingo"
http://www.atomicbooks.com/shocked/lingo.html Let's see you find something better
Unca Bill, I have to confess I have not yet been to this site for a look - it put me off a bit when you said, "you have to dig" - because as it is, I already spend too much time HERE! and that's even with the fewer posts going on. It's too easy to get sucked in - and I should be working! (well - not right now. Right now, I should be in bed! alone again....sighhhh)
