Ok, Dr. Bill, I'll bite [one foot in the snare e]. This is Wordplay & Fun, so there must be a joke in here. But I'm darned if I can figure it out; here are M-W's def.'s of avatar: 1 : the incarnation of a Hindu deity (as Vishnu)
2 a : an incarnation in human form b : an embodiment (as of a concept or philosophy) often in a person
3 : a variant phase or version of a continuing basic entity


Let's see [second foot in the snare e]: an avatar is a reincarnation, and an atavism, if you don't like it, is a reintarnation?
