I need to find a list of English words or a public domain dictionary that I can download.

A hearty G'day and WELCOME worsch!

You said:I need to find a list of English words or a public domain dictionary that I can download.

I don't really know of any downloadable dictionaries, but I can't let an opportunity to welcome someone go by... Glad you are here, hope we can help and hope you'll stay!

Dear worsch: We have URL's for a whole bunch of dictionaries, but I do not know of any that are downloadable in their entirety. Ask MaxQuordlepleen at maxq@paradise.net.nz He is our authority on such matters. I have a ten buck Webster's New World dictionary running minimized all the time, and think it is wonderful in spite of its having some limits. I don't know what a comparable CD would cost now, mine was probably a marked down closeout. Talk to Max.

Welcome, worsh! Hope you stick around for awhile for our "wordly" discussions!

Here's a site that links dozens of English dictionaries for your perusal:
http://www.geocities.com/sassisch/rhahn/lowlands/links_english.htm

And here's the page on our own Max Q"s AWADabilia site that's full of great dictionary links:
