The song lyrics thread has made me think that you guys might enjoy a game I've been playing on another board. Link the Lyrics is played with a series of excerpts from song lyric(s); the object is to post lyrics which duplicate a word or phrase included in the immediately preceding post.

So - if I posted the lyrics from You're Having My Baby [bushasuru emoticon], someone could follow with the lyrics from Baby, Baby, Don't Get Hooked on Me [bushasuru-again e]. In posting lyrics, please ~

~ confine the lyrics to four lines or less, unless the song is out of copyright
~ boldface the linking word or phrase
~ identify the title of the song, and
~ identify the composer or first performer of the song

OK. Here we go.

Seventy six trombones caught the morning sun,
With a hundred and ten cornets right behind.
There were more than a thousand reeds springing up like weeds,
there were horns of ev'ry shape and kind.

There's no use in crying, it's all over
But I know there'll always be another day
Well my heart will rise up with the morning sun
And the hurt I feel will simply melt away

There'll always be an England
While there's a country lane,
Wherever there's a cottage small
Beside a field of grain.
There'll always be an England
While there's a busy street,
Wherever there's a turning wheel,
A million marching feet.

There'll always be an England -- Parker & Charles

I'm going on down to Yasgur's farm
I'm going to join in a rock 'n' roll band
I'm going to camp out on the land
I'm going to try an' get my soul free

post-edit Sorry, Jazz. If I had copied it from the way Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young sang it, it would have been

I'm going on down to Yasgur's farm
I'm going to join in a rock 'n' roll band
Got to get back to the land
Set my soul free

Everybody plays the fool sometime;
There's no exception to the rule.
Listen, baby, it may be factual, may be cruel,
I ain't lying, everybody plays the fool.

What kind of fool did you think I'd be
You said you really really loved me
Darling you run around all over town
You build me up then you let me down

Here's the moral of the story from the guy who knows:
I fell in love and my love still grows.
Ask any fool that she ever knew, they'll say,
"A-keep away from-a runaround Sue."

Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to

James Taylor
Fire and Rain

Edit: Additional info: On October 20, 2001, in Madison Square Garden, a chilling prophetic accuracy came over this song as James Taylor, along with other rock, pop, and movie stars, entertained an audience of six thousand firefighters, police officers, emergency workers, and their families and thanked them for their dedication and hard work in the aftermath of September 11’s tragedy. Suddenly Suzanne was just one in over five thousand who died there in the attack on the World Trade Center, and it was the plans of a few terrorists that brought an end to her—and them—leaving a nation disoriented and distraught. Like James, we wrote down our feelings, but we didn’t know what to do with them.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be.

And when I talk about therapy, I know what people think,
That it only makes you selfish and in love with your shrink,
But oh how I loved everybody else,
When I finally got to talk so much about myself

Let me put back the full original post for you, that was mailed to my home address as with all my public repsonses here:

Unless I'm missing something, W'ON, you need to take a look at the rules here.

Funny how your antagonistic posts always seem to change after your targets see them. This is a fun thread.
What's your problem here?

Sparteye's rules are very clear.

Whit -- immediately after clicking of my original post I modified it to be more gentle to you -- surely you do not object to that? [Though I don't think the original was particular unkind or antagonistic.]

I do not see how your "Wild Thing" post links to the previous one (Hev's) under sparteye's rules -- nor how your prior "Any Old Kind of Day" post links up. Please illuminate me by PM. Thank you.

So come on take a little walk with me, Arlene
And tell me who do you love.

It's a long, long journey so stay by my side.
When I walk through the storm, you'll be my guide.

If they gave me a fortune, my pleasure would be small;
I could lose it all tomorrow and never mind at all.
But if I should lose your love, Dear, I don't know what I'd do,
For I know I'll never find another you.

Tom Springfield

it really easy for two people to respond to the same song, at almost the same time.. given the lag of our ISP's and modems, we might not be aware of it. it seem Whit, that you, like I, repsonded a 30 seconds or so after an other post. It doesn't take a genius to see which song you were responding too.., and that you were not ignoring anyone. just as i wasn't -- but i was the second responder (again, momemts after the first to The Falible Fiend. Fortunately, they realized i am also falible, and didn't chastize me!)
