The week before an ad they would increase the price of their merchandise substantially then during the ad week they'd "mark everything down" for !!BIG BIG SAVINGS!! The problem was that they would mark everything down to the price of two weeks before - or higher. The nutsy part is that they were not slammed for this, they were slammed because they did not put a disclaimer, like your example above, on their circulars to warn clients that the prices may or may not be really lower.
