that shares the same suffix? Today's word being iracund.... No doubt a rhyming dictionary would be of help here. The only word I could come up with was "rubicund" - NOT an antonym of iracund. anyone?

veracundea~ it's probably jocund, although i don't mind admitting that all i could think of at first was "fecund", which is clearly wrong. ~caradeaEDIT: aha, mea culpa ~ i was reading the threads in order and didn't realize this was already being discussed further south.

I m-wed *cund and the best candidate is jocund. This seems to me an imperfect antonym.

Merriam-Webster offers what could be called a rhyming dictionary. It allows the use of * as a wild card on either end of a word. So you could go there, type in *cund, and see what pops up:
