I have yet to get hold of Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch, but really enjoyed the movie version, and completely empathised with the central character.

I haven't read it either (and I don't intend to for a while - too much backlog of other stuff) but I did see the film in my hotel when I was in Brazil last year. Colin Firth played that character brilliantly. A really good decision to cast him against type.
