Here's a purely wordistic post...ta daaaa! While looking up mycterisms (I didn't find it), I encountered this strange and intriguing variation:
mycetophagous adj [Gk myket-, mykes + E -phagous] : feeding on fungi (both Greek "e's" take a long accent which I couldn't find on the Ramsch table)
mycophagous adj : feeding on fungi
Why the two forms for such an obscure, rarely-used word?
The word for "one who eats fungi" (as mushrooms) is mycophagist, a label with which I gladly garnish myself! Of course, our AWAD expert in mycophagy is consuelo, if I remember correctly...many posted mushroom-hunting yarns.
