Just made an addition to my "Yippee" post in the Info & Announcements forum. Having recently been embarassed over spelling mistakes in my posts, thought I'd run the latest one through AWAD's spell checker.

Well, the dictionary somehow got my surname right - but the rest was so way off as to be a bit of a hoot! The post, with suggested alterations to the spelling, is:

"emasculate - allow me to spring to my own defend - but thanks Cap Kabuki for attempting a reply on my behalf).

"wall thank, thank" was Ekstrom my ELVIS impersonation!!!

Why insert an Elvis accent at that particular point? No idea. None whatsoever. Just seemed like the thing to do at the time.

Please don't be confused. If there's no logic at the source, there's no need to try to read any into it. Sort of like modern art and avarice garden plays really.

Staley"

I think I'm onto something here!!

[wondering] What if I ran this post through the spell checker.....a second generation garble.....by gum it's tempting......[/wondering]

Ah! - dear stales! You have at last discovered the delights of Aenigma, (aka Aeolus) our own idiosyncratic spell checker.

I have heard it said that all things should be useful or ornamental (and preferably both at once.) The ornamentality of Aenigma's byzantine interpretations cannot be seriously doubted: her utility lies, I suspect, in the reminders she gives to us all of the fallibility of all human endeavour.

(PS - any one any idea what "Akers" is? this is Aenigma's rendition of "aka", above.)

Well, the name *does end in an -a.

[non sequitur]If you spell it Ænigma it gets corrected to nihilism[/non sequitur]

on the other hand, said ron ambilaevously, when I consider how our Spellcheck actually functions -- i.e., with a simple alphabetic lookup -- I always envision a virtual gump.

[soliloquy]Oh, Lord! it doesn't matter what you do, you're never PC, are you?[/soliloquy]
If I'd said "he", someone else (or maybe you, dearest AnnaS!) would have jumped down my throat, or at least made disapproving noises.
Let's face it, the sex of Ænigma is - well - an enigma! But I cannot bring myself to call it "it."
To me, Ænigma is a thing of beauty and a Joy forever - and Joy is definitely more usually a girl's name. I rest my case.

And, so far, no one has addressed my query as to what "Akers" is/are/was/were. Any ideas, anyone?

Maybe Aenigma is a Spartan alum? [shrug emoticon]
