A new word to share.
On seeing this I went to root it out as a misspelling, then found it had a use: a portmanteau of juvenilia and paraphernalia, referring to older people carrying kids' stuff, skateboarding, listening to the Spice Girls, and so on, when they should be acting their age.

I like it... but it is not to be confused with Juvenalian, characteristic of Juvenal, the Roman satirist.

And to - ahem - cross-thread just a little, the last exponents of that which I saw were in, um, the movie Cocoon ... directed by that big girl's blouse and Peter Pan surrogate, Ron Howard.

Puzzled a bit by CK's characterization of Ron Howard, I found this URL about the movie: http://www.foxhome.com/capsule/cocoon.htm There were a couple more sites to be found by searching for "Ron Howard movie Cocoon" ("Peter Pan surrogate" sounds a bit cruel.) I vaguely remember Ron Howard as juvenile in TV show my son liked, but I never watched. What did he do wrong, CK?

Maturing, as the collection of experiences mount, includes *clearer understandings of the risks involved in certain actions... perchance creating/instilling a fear and protection of/from failure or harm which may "eliminate" or at least limit the scope of action. This process may be what manifests as "acting ones' age"... yet, there are a heck of a lot more risks in driving a car than there are on a skateboard, and I'm still looking for the risk in listening to the Spice Girls!  Hey! Stop picking on me...  ...
