choose one: (...these are pantogelastic!)

a) A fragrant ornamental hanging consisting of small bundles of dried herbs. caradea ii votes
b) The Romanian equivalent of Mardi Gras, celebrated in pre-Communist days with masked dances. Bingley
c) The decorative scrollwork found on the spines of leather-bound books. Sparteye iiii votes plus an own vote
d) Bombazine on bobbins, yellow or umber, never going beyond a limited threadcount. Bobyoungbalt
e) Of, or to do with, ancient Tibetan manuscripts. (cf the Rtang Grol, a bundle of manuscripts dating from the 11th century) RhubarbC
f) The growth lines on the scale of a fish. WhitmanO'N i vote
g) A compulsion or desire to group things in bundles or piles. Flatlander i vote
h) A thin layer of grey matter that forms the posterior continuation of the dentate gyrus in the hippocampal formation of the brain; the gyrus fasgrolaris. tsuwm
i) An unusual and generally unwanted form of tissue growth. consuelo
j) In 1986, this term was lifted from the field notebook of primatoligist, Eugene A. Tarrence, whose observerations revealed that bands of mountian gorillas were led, more often than not, by two, rather than one, dominant males. These siver-backed males were the final arbitrators of matters pertinent to the pack but were never seen fighting each other. FAS(First And Second)+ GRO(the Sudanic inversion) + LIA milum
k) An inexplicable exuberance displayed during an oratorical performance. Jazzo
l) [err. for frasgolia] a cheese made from the milk of an Italian goat kept by monks on the northern slopes of Mt. Etna, highly prized because it takes on some of the taste of the extra virgin oil in which it is packed to keep it from ageing. teD i vote
m) A magnum-sized glass container particular to the bottling of grappa. Fiberbabe
n) Fast growing plants, like brambles. I must cut back all the fasgrolia today. jmh
o) FASt GROwing Language of Initialisms and Acronyms Mrs. Byrne ii votes, from Byb and teD

In deference to the famous mnemonic device for remembering the endings of the facial nerve (Dr. Bill or Doc Comfort will be able to enlighten you), I shall cast my vote for O.

A (and perhaps the transoceanics will now remember that it is a herb, not an herb).

I am going with E. I thought at first that it was O, but that was just too facile. I was thinking I had been had. NO. DAMMIT! I change my vote. I am going with O. If I got suckered I got suckered by an expert!

TEd, I think you should have included the phrase, "E & O E", just to cover all eventualities!

What an incredible and eclectic array of bluffs this time!...it may be the best board ever! First, I think the gorilla def (if it proves a bluff) deserves a point just for effort! I like C because it sounds like a Latin coinage and could well be a throwback to the early days of bookmaking, but in a way that's too easy.
And since the cheese definition seems too precise to be concocted (and my rebellious streak always loves to buck a trend) I'll choose L...and take a little fasgrolia with my Swiss, Muenster, and Jarlsberg.

while there were fourteen(14) very good def'ns this time, there were only eleven(11) votes. the def'ns must have been *too good. therefore, and to wit, I am going to execute the powers not so far vested in me and award bonus points for this round:

most convoluted def'n - milum (1 point)
best connection to reality - Bingley (1 point) http://www.vtour.ch/fasnacht/fasnacht.html
best use of word in a citation - jmh (1 point)
best assist by hogmaster™ - tsuwm (.17 point) [allowing for teD's misspell, frasgolia]
least likely def'n lifted intact from another word - tsuwm (.17 point) [from gyrus fasciolaris, fasciola]
most timely bluff (own vote) - Sparteye (-.42 point)

score updates to follow...
