We read in today's paper that researchers have discovered "that baby sea turtles use natural magnetic field patterns as navigational guides to stay within the Atlantic gyre, an ocean-wide current of warm water". Pretty clever of those little critters, wouldn't you say? This magnetic field sensitivity may offer a clue to the unsolved mystery of the navigational genius of the Monarch butterfly. Every year the Monarch travels from the meadows of southern Ontario in Canada to a small mountainous region in Central Mexico, a journey of thousands of miles, which is completed by the offspring of the original migrants. They rest for a time blanketing a mountain forest like snow and then they make the long trip back to Ontario arriving in Spring. How do they do it? No-one knows. So what do we call these unexplained marvels of tiny creatures? I mention only two marvels here but there must be dozens.

"Turtle Navigation" to describe the frustrations of waiting for downloads. Yes, it may be just the term I was looking for in another forum on another Subject. My recent posting in that forum follows: "There must be a word or a term to describe this angst, Wordwind. If there isn't, we should coin one. Any ideas? "Download overload" is the best I can come up with for now." "Turtle navigation" IS closer to the mark.

I have read that the Monarch butterflies have four new generations on the way to Canada. That is why the genetically altered corn was alleged to hurt them. The ones that go to Mexico must have some genetic hard wired mechanism that guides them.
