well, i too have used both, and my current work site is WP. and while i hate to tout an MS product, show/hide shows the end of file code. if a document is damaged or corrupted, removing the end of file code will often allow you to recover the document.

yes, i know correl has an macro that pretty much does the same thing, and i have down-loaded it. but its is not as easy to use. and its not built in.. with Word, we used to instruct users over the phone-- to open a file, go to end, place cursor between last bit of text and last "¶" symbol, and then working backwards highlight all of the text, copy and paste into a new document.. and 99% of the problems where fixed.

when a WP document get corrupted, i end up cleaning it up.. not the user.

Show/hide has value.. Word is also much better with headers/footers, (but not with footnotes) and its easier to build templates in word..
but bill gates still sucks
