Dear WO'N: I spent half an hour trying to think of phosphoresce, and could only think of fluoresce and with a bit of stretch, luminesce. I still have more than ten left.

saturate/desaturate, dull(v.), opacifiy, wash out.., flop(n.) is used for paints (e.g. on cars) which change color according to the angle of sight.

Dear Dr. Bill, an interesting question: I originally posted iridesce and phosporesce, but couldn't find iridesce listed in any dictionary as a verb, so I changed them back to their noun incarnations. Can you establish the verb form of iridesce with a citation? Peculiarly, all the others are listed as verbs in that form, but not iridesce? Tsuwm? Anyone?

I confess to backformations, scraping bottom of barrel.Stretching things a bit:
pink,tan,fade,sallow,inflame,stripe,ensanguine,clarify,freckle,cyanose,glow,luminesce,irradiate,fluoresce,scintillate, coruscate,opalesce,exsanguinate,wan, and as a joke, litmus - chemical test, changes color with pH.
