A simple query really. Am I imagining it, or has this salutation from Middle English gained much more prevalence of late? Maybe it has always been as popular, but it seems to me that this outdated well-wisher is only now common in popular usage. True?
Any other examples of ancient phrases finding modern support?
btw, a search of the forum shows a single use of 'godspeed' in CK's 'Travels' :-)

This is still used? I thought that the last time it was used was sometime in the late eighteenth/early nineteenth centuries.

I've heard/read it surprisingly often lately.
Can't say that I've ever heard it used in real life (as opposed to novels and films). May just start using it myself as an experiment to see if anyone comments on it - looks at me funny - or picks it up. Thanks for the idea, by

Smooth sailing is another expression which seems to wax and wan in popularity...even in the seaside boating area where I live.
