Avy's entry was pretty near the real meaning, so she gets 3 points before we start. 1.Greenlandic term for that part of an iceberg which lies below the waterline. 2. The sound a pair of dice makes when knocked together. 3. Threads of wool fragments that ball into clusters on mechanical looms, causing blockages on the feed of new yarn. 4. Unit of weight for precious stones, equal to 100 karats. 5. A castrated feline. 6. A method of weaving where the pattern is dyed onto the thread before it is woven into cloth. 7. A particular mask found among certain tribes of coastal British Columbia. 8. A list (in IT) of ready made functions to add on to a base system. A contraction of "IKEA catalogue". 9. Central pole of a Mongolian yurt which holds up the canopy and symbolizes the world axis. 10. A solipsist philosophy popular in mediaeval Iran. 11. In a dazed or surreal stupor. 12. A measurement for a charge of energy emitted by an electron. 13. A mediaeval game, similar to parchesi, played with small stones. False definitions were received from: Bingley; caradea; Flatlander; Jazzoctopus; jimthedog; Marianna; maverick; RhubarbCommando; rodward; squid; Whitman O’Neill; wordcrazy. The polls will be open until noon Tuesday WIB (5 a.m. GMT, midnight Monday/Tuesday board time).Bingley

6. A method of weaving where the pattern is dyed onto the thread before it is woven into cloth I have seen someone actually weaving on a great big loom and thought it amazing how they form a pattern on the finished material. The method above, if actually used, must even be more fascinating to watch from start to finish. Since I am still in a crafty state of mind, I choose 6 .

6POST-GUESS EDIT: I tend to check the answer after I've guessed and, whaddayaknow, the dang word is in the AHD! Very sneaky Mr. B.

since I missed out on the chance to enter, and bluff-vote, I guess I'll have to settle for a point: 6 .

> It can't be mine, The castrated cat one? I like it! Another one of them-type definitions is cat identity crisis.

What a variety of possibilities, but two about gaming and two about weaving. To avoid falling any further off the pace, I'll jump on the 6 bandwagon, but let it be known that I was favoring that definition even before I read all the guesses. Good words, Bingley!

Working in a historical village with a resident weaver, and also having had a good friend who wove tapestries, I have never heard said word mentioned. On the other hand, 6 sounds like the only real definition on the board, so
6 it is. [staying-far-away-from-Max's-influence-this-time-emoticon]

6. Definitely 6. And that's from someone who refers to herself as Fiber babe.

Because of the hiatus in the Board's operation, I've decided to keep the polls open until noon Thursday WIB (5 a.m. GMT, midnight Wednesday/Thursday board time).Bingley

I like the sound of 5 but it has to be too good to be true - a kitikat without it's kit!
So I will take the sensible view, based on my knowledge of Mongolian, I am certain that it must be
No. 9 (the doctor's friend, in Bingo parlance)

Thank you, thank you, Bingley, I thought I had missed this due to the board being down Mon & Tues. Therefore I shall vote for 7 , mainly because no one else has done so.

I'll go with 6 too, just because my sleep-deprived brain is too foggy to do anything but follow the pack of y'all.
