First babies tend to be ca. 2 weeks late. My cousin was supposed to be born in December, but he was born in November, on my older brother's 16th birthday.

Here's the thing - this is our second, and the first was a day early - so we expected to have our second even earlier. So we've been thinking "any minute now" for about 3 weeks, ever since my SO had to spend the afternoon before we moved in bed due to contractions.
I can only imagine how long it's going to take to get this kid ready for school in the morn when he/she is older...

I'm sure Hyla really appreciates your encouraging words, child. Now don't you have some summer reading to do, or camp or something?

I would have some new books, but the library I went to last changed the days it's open, so I have to wait. I read so fast anyway, that it wouldn't help you. And the type of camping you're thinking of isn't any fun, because you have to follow some sort of program. I prefer just going out for a few days with my uncle and brothers, and we do whatever we want. I had more to say, but I decided not to.

Jimbo, don't be intimidated. If you don't want to say something on the board, you can pick someone to send a private message to. We are aware that your school system stinks, now we find out the library system is sadly lacking. A real tough situation for a voracious reader with an inquiring mind and a free spirit who isn't fond of regimentation. I know how that is; I've been there.

I don't much like camping-- my idea of the country is doing something like the Mt Washington Hotel-- picnics, golf, riding, hiking, and back to the base for dinner, and please remember to dress.. and i have mixed feelings about camps (kids camps) it can be nice to have some structure to your day-- but many programs are geared to met the "average" kid-- and if you are not the norm.. it can be boring.. and since camp is also expensive-- it is not always an option.
I only went once in all my childhood-- with five kids my parents just couldn't afford it. (one year, things were very bad-- and we qualified for a camp because we were so poor, most of time, we were "too rich to qualify, to poor to afford" ) but since i wasn't all that sure i like it-- i didn't mind.

I happen to be on the staff of a camp with a program. Sorry. I'm sure there are people who like your type of camps, but I'm not one of them. I'm inclined to think that this library would be great if it wasn't overshadowed by the college. I think the college tries to get the new books. We have another library that we go to, in Wellsville, which is bigger, (the town's bigger, too) and a third that we go to sometimes, but is too far away to be feasible. The school's library is ok. In the language realm here, people generally like to work somewhere else, and the superintendant will suspend people for things they don't do. Maybe the 2 items are related.
