Dear Rod: Thanks for the URL. I kept wondering how anybody had the energy to compile such a long clever list, until I got down to the bottom and found out it was for testing applicants for job of radio announcer . I had problems with a few also.

and found out it was for testing applicants for job of radio announcer Dr Bill, I think the Radio Announcer refers to the foreign names text below it, and the English pronounciation poem was written in response to the Eurospeak text above it. It's not very clear where one topic ends and the other begins though, so I could equally well be wrong.
