They're the ends of shoe strings or pull-strings for a jacket. If you look at the top you can see the braided threads. I'm not quite sure what that has to do with the name maverick, though. And Max, is there any logical order to how you've arranged the photos? They're obviously not in alphabetical or chronological order. What a shame that in all my mongrel mix of blood (which does include bits of English, Scandinavian, and a little Jewish I think), there is actually no Welsh stock - so the patron sainted vegetable of Wales is pwobably more appwopwiate elsewhere But I will see if I can get my techno head around the logistics of this challenge quite soon.
