todays hogwash word is prosopolepsy
choose one:

a) a sudden, involuntary, and jerky body movement, often accompanied by a sensation of falling, which occurs just before a person falls asleep

b) a disease characterized by an uncontollable urge to speak out in rhymes

c) apathy, lack of concern

d) undue favour shown to a particular person; partiality

e) a tendency to fall on one's forehead

f) the habit some people have to dunk doughnuts in their coffee

g) a neurological condition characterized by sudden bouts of somnolence; also called Rip Van Winkle's Disease

h) a condition characterised by brief attacks of speaking in verse which induces sleep in the listeners

i) the inability to remember the correct word for something

j) a skin condition caused by a diet of bread soaked in liquid (milk, or water, usually, but can be weak beer) that commonly affected women of ill-repute in the C19, many of whom could not afford better fare

k) a condition which renders the face unrecognizable as being that of any particular person

l) the act of singing scales

m) the condition of being long-winded or excessively verbose

n) the sensation of falling asleep whilst reading

o) a brain disease that makes the victim want to destroy things

p) having an insatiable urge to write sad stories or poems

q) this is a term from literary criticism, and means unmasking, the point in a literary work where we find out that one of the characters is not what we had assumed to that point

r) a brain disease which makes one unable to tell the difference between lying and truth

<whew> that makes, what, eighteen def'ns. the players are, oh, just about everyone... hope I didn't miss anyone.

This game is getting better and better each time. The definitions are so funny, that together with Jackie's gift, the clouds of melancholy is slowly drifting off of me.
I wish I can vote for all, but since I can't,
I reluctantly vote for h

Man, this is all happening so fast I missed the vote on the last round...and didn't submit a definition for this one (am I still qualified to vote?) At least my colluctation definiton got one hale vote...so that was heartening!

If I can vote I'm going with "r"...has everyone met my big white-rabbit pookah, "Harvey?"

whitman wails this is all happening so fast I missed the vote on the last round...

I know. the entries, and guesses, are coming in so fast that I can barely keep up, and I have been pretty Arbitrary and Capricious in the cutoffs.

btw, Sparteye has graciously volunteered to moderate Round 3 -- that oughta relieve some of the legalistic squabbling.

Oh, boy. The definition I like best is mine. I have no idea, really. I'll try: "i) the inability to remember the correct word for something."

Umm, can anyone jump in? Is there a waiting list? Where does one define? Obviously, one votes here. If allowed, I'll go with the top of the list - "a" - and go back to snoozing.

Thoroughly confused NB on a Friday, working hard to waste time.

i'll vote for R.

although if that's the correct definition, prosopolepsy seems to be a bit redundant. oh, wait, being male isn't technically a brain disease, though. so scratch that thought.

Whew! When did this get posted? Didn't look at my computer for twelve hours, and I'm already too late to submit a daffynition!

I'll vote for (a) - IF I'm not too late

Since the male brain is formed by the Y chromosome, and it's only half the size of the X chromosome, does that mean that you can legitimately call us men half-wits!

I was going to close the polls for round 2 at noon on Sunday, but only 7 of the 16 "players" have voted as of late Sat.; so it looks like I should leave 'em open until Monday evening.
