OP This thread is a continuation of an off-topic on 'worst verse'.
For some reason US presidents' last words stick in my mind. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4th 1826 - exactly 50 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence of which they were both instrumental in drafting.
Jefferson died first with the words - 'is it the fourth?' on his lips. A few hours later Adams met his maker with 'Thomas Jefferson lives!'. Oh the irony.
