re "smelange" in another thread
that reminds me that we used to call this mixture of French/English/German "mélangue" from mélange (mixture) and "langue" (language). And the family when speaking so (the noise level tended to rise) was known as "the mélanguerie" from menagerie. This immediately became mondegreened into "my lingerie". The looks we got from other English on the ski slopes when calling out from the lifts to a member of the family phrases such as "The rest of my lingerie is down at the restaurant" were comical.
Another phrase in common use in the family was "Saucisse Erotica" instead of "Saucisse à rôtir".
Does anyone remember the "Fractured French" phrases such as:
coup de grace = lawnmower? I made a fractured translation of La Marseillaise about a year ago. Too big to post so send me a private message if you want iit.
