Dr. Bill, sounds like a varient on:
One dark morning, in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf police man heard the noise,
and came to rescue the two dead boys
If you don't believe my story, ask the blind man,
he saw it all!
(there are many varients of this-- this is the one i know)
other common song in this style is Old Susanna!
In rained all night, the day i left,
the weather it was dry,
the sun, so hot, i froze to death.
Susanna, don't you cry!
I have a book of childrens poetry that states this type of parody is especially American.. is it right?
