and well you *should laugh. it appears to be the merging of two French words, (1)cocotte, orig. a child's name for a hen, a prostitute; one of a class of the demi-monde of Paris, and (2)cocasse a kind of pot, a poached egg would be prepared/served en cocotte.
Yours is the second post that brings Oshima's "In the Realm of the Senses" to mind. Is it me?
