Actually my jest was a dog. Catching the eye would not get any batchelor le droit d'attrappeur (no seigneurs in the crowd.) If a bridemaid caught the bouquet, the meaning of that is clear. But my store of ribaldry lore suggests nothing amusing that could result from a bridesmaid's catching the glass eye, though she might be the cynosure of all eyes.
