PLIMSOLL LINE

PRONUNCIATION: (PLIM-suhl/sohl lyn)

MEANING: noun:
1. Any of various horizontal lines on the side of a ship indicating the depth to which it may be immersed under various conditions.
2. A threshold or limit.
