Help! I was so excited about a new thread a few days ago. An old hand or an addict started it and was asking for your most unfamiliar word. Now I cannot find it. I know I did not dream it.

You are a dear to overlook my spelling. I was expecting a reprimand...how can you find your lost thread if you do not take care of your spelling or ...no wonder you lost your thread, you cannot spell "looking"...and the spell checker is right there for the using. Thanks, now I will peruse that forum you suggested.

Dear wordcrazy: I just went through it, and it does not look like what you are looking for. The most knowledgeable person in this board is tsuwm. He is very kind about helping linguaphiles with sensible questions. Perhaps a Send Private message to him would solve your problem Not for nothing has he recently been elevated to Pooh-bah.

Some clues about the lost thread..... I can remember the person who started it used a word to describe his cat then another joined in with a word that has these letters in them a-s-y-n-d-e-t-o-n , more or less and I can remember he refused to define it but instead wanted people to LIU These are things I remember of the thread. One more question, Is it possible for a thread to be pulled out because it might overlap the arena of AWAD?

wordcrazy: with the word asyndeton, it was easy. Next to Main Index is Search. Click on it, and up comes some boxes to fill out. You have to navigate a list of different forums, in this case when I did not know,I used All Forums. Since I was not sure how many days ago, I chose newer than 2 weeks. Submit brought up Miscellany, Bobyoungbalt, Re Journeyman, which contained just the word asynedeton. Now you should be easily able to find it if not post another message saying so. Fun being even a tiny bit helpful. Makes me feel a little less guilty about having had to ask so many others for help. Stay with us, it's fun. Bill Hunt

Thank you WHH(I wish I knew how to use the "markup in your posts" feature then I could color your name, helpful)I found the lost thread! It was a short one and was off the screen very quickly. I guess I will learn more about how things work as I go along. Like how does a thread get a long life? I learned a lot from just following your directions. If I did not remember a special word from the postings to use in the "search" feature, I would never, ever find it once it is off the day's shown threads. I better improve my memory. Thanks for all that I learned today.

Greetings, wordcrazy.
For information on markup code and the like, you can start with the FAQ link located at the top right of the AWAD talk page. For explanations of many aspects of the board, our friend jmh has posted a thread entitled "Helpful Hints ..." in the Information and Announcements section of the board. Take a look as these two resources, and you'll be up to speed.
