Lena went to the party. She was very reluctant.
I have joined the sentences as follows? Which is the correct one? Thanks.
1. Much to her reluctance, Lena went to the party.
2. With much reluctance, Lena went to the party.
3. Despite her reluctance, Lena went the party.
Thanks.
They all work. The third one has a slightly different feeling to it. the other two seem to be saying that, while she was reluctant it wasn't going to get in the way of her going to the party. The third suggests that she almost didn't go to the party.
I think the third sentence flows better.
