Thank you Bridget [mopping brow emoticon]. I've now changed my password, but although what's in the message looks nothing like my old password the Board accepted both. Anybody know why?

I dunno... but i have noticed that even when you change you password to - for instance - a 6-letter word, it still appears as a long series of asterisks. i suspect that the 'password' that was shown on your post (and the one that appears when you try to edit) is actually reflective of the cookie, and has nothing to do with the password that you chose.

Horrors, the problem came back! After dumping all my cookies in MS Outlook Explorer 5,I thought the problem was solved. I also have Netscape, so used it today, and got same error message Bad Request to every AWAD command. Maybe it isn't my system's fault. I exited Internet,went back to Outlook Express, now commands work. For now.

I've never thought about this, but do IE and Netscape maintain separate caches? try clearing history under netscape preferences....
