endymion, you are a person of great taste,sans doute - the Barbera of Piemonte is a wonderful wine - and the Barbera d'Asti is very close behind it. Cheers!

GREATLY when he played for the Barons but (L>D)

TRAGEDY was Jim Piersall's stock-in-trade.

In retrospect I think that the year Piersall played for the Birmingham Barons he was just having fun.

I met Jim Piersall (#37 with the Bosox) a few years ago; he was very kind, esp. when I told him my mother's cousin had been his first 'best man' (he married Mary Teevan when he was in Class A about 50 yrs back)...what a centerfielder!
